Meet Your Seniors' Captain

Welcome Huffers and Puffers, more commonly known as the Senior contingent of Ravenmeadow and Perdiswell Park Golf Club. My name is Tony Solomon; some of you will already know me, some of you might recognise me and to some of you I might be totally unknown. That said, I have great pleasure in announcing that I will be representing our older Members as Seniors Captain for the forthcoming season. Whilst maintaining the good name of our Golf Club, my hope is to make a diligent and concerted effort to uphold our views, values and desires and win some Club Representative Matches along the way. (Forget the Hole in One's folks this is about a Team!) Seniors Golf is a paramount and very healthy part of R&PGC therefore I would like to encourage all Seniors to join in our Competitions, whether it be in a Monthly Tuesday Seniors-Only Competition or a friendly but still competitive Tuesday Roll-up (the latter being a great way to meet some of the regular Seniors and begin to feel comfortable with playing competitive golf). Regarding our Seniors' Club Matches, I hope to see a few new (and of course some old) faces taking part during my tenure as Captain. To represent the Club at Senior level and/or play in any of the aforementioned Seniors competitions you must be aged 55 or over and you must have a current handicap. If you are interested in potentially representing the Seniors in Club Matches this year please make your interest known to me. I will be monitoring the list regularly so feel free to add your name and contact details at any time. You are not guaranteed a game but will certainly be considered under the, soon to become famous (or infamous), 4S's Process. The Majority of Seniors' Matches are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays (See attached list – Click on READ MORE below). Dress code for matches: minimum DARK BLUE CLUB SHIRTS (These can be bought from the pro shop) and black trousers. Dress code for the meal Home and Away – Jacket, Trousers and Tie if requested (Some Clubs may require a tie to be worn in the Clubhouse) Costs (may vary but as a general rule) – Home Games £13. Away Games around the same although they may differ slightly. Please note that selected players are expected to attend the meal following the conclusion of the Matches. It is my intention to try to play everyone who puts their name forward at some point. That said, with only 12 players required for each Match please do not be disheartened if you should play exceptionally well one match to only find out that you have not been selected for the next. Wherever possible lower handicap players will be paired with a higher handicap player. Remember, Matches are Matchplay format and shots count. Whatever we as a team do, it should always be our endeavour to enjoy our golf and have a great day. That said I would like to think that we can better our performance of last year and hopefully win a few more matches. Don't forget that the Club also run Competitions on Wednesdays, Saturdays and some Sundays which are open to all Members with a current handicap. Why not join in? Yours Aye Tony Solomon.
